This could mean parting the hair where it wants to fall, working with the natural movement of the hair, or letting any face-framing strands fall out on their own.
2. Effortless Ponytails
Ponytails are still selling like hot rollers for brides and bridesmaids alike. With their effortless yet considered nature, I can see why. There is truly a ponytail to suit every style and every insecurity – high, medium, low – with face-framing or without, and they seriously tend to work with any style of dress. Have you seen a dress a ponytail won’t suit?
3. Boho Waves
Glam waves are still around, they might always have their place, but this bridal season has shown the comeback of the more relaxed and less structured boho bridal wave. Created by fluffing out the layers of waves instead of combing them all together for a more lived-in beachy feel. Finish off with your favorite boho accessory to complete to look.
4. Soft Low Buns
Low buns have always been a classic favorite and with good reason – they are beautiful, easy to wear and reliable in any weather. This season the staple bun has been seen paired with a chunky face frame for a modern edge. Just make sure the front pieces aren’t too long or they will pull the style and the face down. To keep it light and airy, I find starting the shorter pieces somewhere between cheekbone and jaw length, then tapering out from there works well.
5. Modern Minimal Accessories
Simplicity is in vogue like never before and less is more with this understated trend. A simple style teamed with a streamlined blingy bridal accessory will give those sleek, but I didn’t try too hard vibes to your minimally styled event.
6. Romantic High Bun
Bring the romance with a soft and pretty high bun. The key to having a look like this one is where the bun is positioned. Too far on top of the head, and it will appear as a top knot giving a more casual overall feel to the style. Create softness by leaving subtle wave details out of the bun and around the face and neck. Wear with a backless dress and statement earring to show off all this beautiful style has to offer.
7. Unstructured Mid Styles
Bringing a modern touch to the ‘90s classic, this mid-height style with the ends of the hair naturally cascading from the bun shape has been super popular. It’s sexy, fun, and elegant all at the same time and teams beautifully with the oh-so-popular slip dresses of the season.
8. Short Haired Brides
Gone are the days where brides feel pressure to “grow their hair out for their big day”. When I say there are no rules, this includes brides with above shoulder length hair. You are allowed to be YOU on your day, in fact I encourage it. I’ve even seen brides come for a trial with long hair like they are a square peg trying to fit in some kind of bridal hair round hole and decide to cut their sharp bob back on the morning of their wedding. I say go as you are and blow them all away!
9. Amped Up Texture
Brides are loving texture like never before and are adding braid and twist details throughout their up and down styles. The more deconstructed, the better, whilst keeping focus on the style remaining beautifully in balance.
10. Twinning Brides with Their Flower Girls
Is there anything cuter than a bride and her little lady rocking the same style? I have loved this trend as much as the admirers of the bride and her mini as they make their way down the aisle. I love this with high buns, in particular – as they work on all hair types and stay in best on wriggly little ones.
11. Fantasy Half Ups
Half up wedding hairstyles are here to stay giving the beautiful feel of having hair out with the additional detail that can be created by having some hair pinned up. Add the softness of twists for an ethereal touch, this gives a down style uniqueness and interest in a subtle way.

This wind proof look is more than just the most practical style to wear on your day, it’s the perfect blank canvas to wear with a more elaborate gown, veil, or hair accessory. To flatter the face, be sure to add plenty of height throughout the front and crown area and sweep the sides in an upwards direction.

A center parting and curtain bang sweep will bring the ultimate modern front to any up or down style. The volume and bend in the right places will frame the face perfectly, giving facial features softness while still making a statement. Plenty of teasing, hair spray, and no touching once the style is complete is the key to having your bangs stay in place all day.

Wedding day blowouts are back with a vengeance with more stylists reaching for the blow dryer instead of the hot tong on wedding mornings. This is such an understated yet beautiful look that works so well with all dress designs from structured sleek to flowy and soft. My tip – make sure you have hair that holds heat styling for this one, it can drop out fast if your hair won’t hold it.

Rapunzel style boho braids have been a staple for the bridal goddess this season, the chunkier and longer the better. *Reaches for hair extensions*
These braids are the perfect accompaniment for lace gowns and delicate accessories. I love seeing this look finished off with dried flowers also.
