Goat Cheese Appetizer

From Airfryer Honey Goat Cheese Balls andPomegranate Goat Cheese Crostinito this Blueberry Balsamic Goat Cheese Appetizer, goat cheese is always a winning bet in my book.

I have found that most people tend to have a love or hate attitude about goat cheese. I also discovered that many people who hate it have made their minds up about it before ever trying it.

At a party a few years ago, I actually served goat cheese to some ladies once and they loved it. When they asked what it was, one of the ladies threw up her arms and said she HATED goat cheese and refused to eat any more…despite having previously said she loved it! You can’t win them all.

Blueberry Reduction

It really doesn’t get much easier than this recipe. Simply toss the frozen or fresh blueberries in a small saucepan and add the rosemary, honey and balsamic vinegar.

Let it cook on medium for 10 minutes while stirring occasionally. If your blueberries aren’t particularly sweet or you just prefer a sweet taste, you can add an additional teaspoon of honey to sweeten it up.

How to Make Blueberry Goat Cheese

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, beat the goat cheese and cream cheese together. I did this using whipped cream cheese and a fork. You could also use a hand mixer if your cream cheese is stiffer.

If you are concerned your guests aren’t big goat cheese fans, you could use more cream cheese and less goat cheese. You could actually use just plain whipped cream cheese if you really don’t want to risk serving goat cheese at all.

Spread the goat cheese mixture over a small plate and top with the blueberry mixture that has been allowed to cool for a bit. Serve the dip with some crusty French bread or crackers.

Alternatively, if you want to make things a bit more presentable, you could take the time to spread the goat cheese mixture over each toasted slice of French bread and top with a dollop of blueberry mixture. This would make for a beautiful crostini that is perfect for a passing appetizer.

Can I make blueberry goat cheese ahead of time?

I often get asked whether or not you can prepare this blueberry goat cheese in advance of a party. The answer is YES!

While the combination of chilled whipped goat cheese topped with a warm blueberry reduction is absolutely amazing, you can certainly serve it entirely cold.

Alternatively, you can make the goat cheese and blueberry mixture ahead of time and store them separately. Right before you put out your appetizers for your party, spread the goat cheese on a small plate and quickly warm the blueberries in the microwave for a minute before pouring them over the goat cheese.
