The following guide includes spoilers for the game’s story. This isn’t intentional and the story isn’t discussed, but there are plot points and characters revealed just through the item descriptions and names. We recommend finishing the story before reading this guide.
Item Guide Overview

While each item has it’s own drop rate, story and information below in the Item List With Best Farming Location By Area, there were also a number of learnings we made that apply to the item system in general:
- You can patrol each trail three times before all enemies are cleared and you need to wait for that trail to refresh. The number of enemies (and hence item drops) decreases on each trail replay. You can see the exact numbers by clicking through to the data spreadheet.
- Metal bars do not drop from defeated enemies. You can only get them from merchants or as gifts from NPCs.
- An NPC will give you a small reward each time you clear out a trail. They only ever appear after your third patrol of a trail. In a previous edit of this article – and an early version of the game’s Early Access – this reward mechanic was fulfilled with randomised trail chests. This has since been updated in the early access period and replaced with the more story focussed NPC reward system.
- The third and fourth trail of each area have the most drops. This isn’t true for every individual item. But overall these trails tend to provide the most item drops.
- The area boss will appear at the end of the first patrol of the fifth trail. This was changed from earlier in the games development, where the boss would appear at the end of the third patrol.
- Blooplets always appear in the third replay of a patrol. They can appear in any area and on any patrol but they are very rare and players can go tens or hundreds of runs at times without seeing them.
Interesting Note: Item Template For Each Area
The number of items in total as well as the breakdown of different item types and rarities follows a pattern across the areas. The pattern is as follows. The first three areas have: – 1 metal bar (not dropped, only available from chests, NPCs, bounty rewards and offline tasks).
– 1 metal ore.
– 2 common herbs.
– 1 common creature-derived material (e.g. Dire Fur).
– 1 common humanoid-derived material (e.g. Psycho Cloth).
– 1 wood.
– 1 rare herb.
– 2 rare materials.
– 1 epic orb.
The areas Violetfair and Aldor have the above items as well as one additional rare item in each area.
Item Drop Rate Data
At the time of writing this guide, Postknight 2 is now out of Early Access and is in full release. Even with the game finished, the dev team is active and there very well may be new areas and new items yet to be released. We plan to keep this guide up to date as quickly as possible after each update in the game. To assist in this goal and also to provide transparency to readers, we have linked our data spreadsheet below which shows the item drops for each individual run we make to gather the data for this guide.
Postknight 2 Secret Enemy – How Do You Get The Blooper To Appear So You Can Harvest His Bag Of Bloops?
I can personally attest to how painful the Blooper can be to find. I played through hundreds of replays of patrols and still hadn’t seen one. I actually thought my game might be bugged. But I persisted and eventually he appeared. This is what I can tell you: The Blooper always appears in the third run of a patrol and has an equal chance of appearing across areas.
